Our Contest Winner!! : Middle Georgia Photographer

Several months ago we held a contest on our Facebook fan page for a free photo session - the response was wonderful and we were simply floored by it!  The contestants were determined and kept the votes coming in. The contest was so. close. In the end our winner was Michelle Harrelson - and we are so glad we had the opportunity to work with her and her husband.  They were both so kind, so fun and very patient as we explored a new location.  Despite the fact that Dusty didn't want to smile for me (lol!!!) I managed to get a few grins out of him (whether he liked it or not! hehehe)  You have to understand..I'm goofy by nature, and a tad clumsy, so needless to say there were a few situations where they couldn't help but laugh! At me!

We spent a couple of hours shooting - walking around, finding really old, cool buildings to shoot at and in.  I truly had a wonderful time with Michelle and Dusty!  Here are a few sneaks from our day:

We came acros this really cool, old laundry mat.  I have always wanted to shoot in a laundry mat...I have no idea why, but I have lol!  I just love the rows of washing machines...the depth, the texture.  They were totally game, so, in we went!  Despite nearly falling into a door and scaring myself half to death we had a good time and lots of laughs....some of those due to my nearly falling in the door...but I digress...

This is one of my favorite ring shots ever.  Ever.  I saw the coin slot and knew we had to put her rings there and get a ring shot!!

This was the coolest old building....it was definitely run down and it was missing a roof, but, it had the creamiest light!  We got around all of the glass and took advantage of the wonderful texture of the building!

This is one of my favorite photos from the day.  Doesn't she have a gorgeous smile?  I mean it!  And I love the way Dusty is looking at her.  There is a funny story behind this too - see, I don't believe in a lot of posing.  I try to keep the session as natural as possible and shoot people as they truly are...I don't do a lot of "tilt your head this way" or things like that.  I'll direct my clients...but I don't believe in putting them into a pose that's just plain uncomfortable or unflattering.  So, when I popped out with "I want you to touch foreheads...like osmosis or something" they were both puzzled but started to do it.  Needless to say, they found the pose kind of awkward and promptly started cracking up laughing and joking with eachother....which resulted in the above photo.  Just as I had hoped.

We came across this old building...and right out front was a windmill that was....creepy.  The sound it made as it turned was just....uh...chilling lol!  Despite the creepy factor, this building was awesome and again, the light was just perfect!

And one more....another favorite...

Michelle, Dusty, thank you so much for being so wonderful.  We had an absolute blast with you guys!!  XOXO
